So you're looking to boost on social media, but you don't want to waste your precious budget? Boosting is a great way to reach new audiences without sharing new content. Yes, it costs money, but if done well, there can be a nice return on investment. Here is a useful strategy for how to boost on social media without wasting money.
The first thing to know is that paid advertising IS an investment. It will take time to learn the model and get it right, so don’t be too precious about spending money or jump in before you are ready to invest.
However, once you are ready to spend some money, consider how much you want to spend and where you want it to go. I recommend setting aside $100-$250/month for the early stages.
Determine where your ads will link to. Make sure the ads end in an action item like making a phone call, purchase, or appointment.
Next, look at all your stats and find the posts that are the most interesting or popular. Look for posts that got the highest engagement, most shares, or most likes. This is a good starting point for selecting which post to boost.
From there, boost with a small amount and see what the results are. Try a few different posts and see which ones your audience responds to best.
Finally, once you see which post is performing best, create a few different versions of this ad. Tag the control post as "original" and each new version as a separate experiment. The goal is to create a few different variations of the ad with different photos, captions, and links. Invest a small amount of money into each ad.
Usually each ad will have about a .05% Click Through Rate (CTR). However, one of these posts may have a 2% CTR or higher. If this “pop” happens, invest money into boosting this ad and make it a part of your regular boosting plan.
Save this blog for later so you don’t forget. And let me know how it goes!
